The society, like all organisations, needs to keep refreshing itself and that means new and committed members to put themselves forward for varying degrees of support activities working with the committee on its different projects.
Often an existing committee member will overhear a voice suggesting change or dissent at a meeting perhaps over lunch. No-one will sit with me anymore! Sometimes a member will be approached as a result of the questionnaires at each meeting which ask if anyone would be prepared to become involved in the running of a local meeting. Of course we would be happy to hear from those who wish to become involved even without coercion.
The initial contribution may be to attend a regional meeting and perhaps chair a session or just attend a committee meeting to see what goes on and to see if it would suit. We are very conscious that many would be prepared to make a small contribution but would be anxious about becoming overwhelmed or pushed into stressful appearances. All levels of input are welcome. You do not have to be a whiz at dermatology just keen on it!
Any existing member of the committee will be pleased to inform and support a prospective member. All you have to do is ask. Contact the PCDS at email@example.com
Committee meetings are held quarterly on a Saturday usually in London or sometimes in association with an educational meeting. Travel expenses are paid (only standard class I’m afraid) as are expenses involved in attending the educational meetings. Committee members are encouraged to attend regional meetings where possible, particularly those held in their region. They should attend the AGM.
We offer an opportunity to become involved in organisation, medical politics or academic development; to influence the development of your society.
