Blue-white veil

Dermoscopic Description
A focal structureless zone with an overlying white/blue “ground-glass” haze.   

What the structures correspond to histologically
Heavily pigmented melanocytes and/or melanophages or melanin in the dermis (in melanocytic lesions), in combination with acanthosis and compact orthokeratosis.

Lesions in which the structures arise
Occurs in raised/palpable areas of a lesion. Associated with melanoma, but can also be seen in Spitz/Reed nevi and in non-melanocytic lesions such as sebK, BCC and pyogenic granuloma.
