Skin diseases can have a major impact on patients' lives in terms of psychological well-being, social functioning and everyday activities. Assessment of patients' quality of life has become an invaluable tool in the following:

• As an important endpoint in clinical trials in addition to the traditional clinical outcomes
• In the assessment of the severity of skin conditions and sometimes in influencing management decisions
• In measuring response to treatment

The Department of Dermatology at Cardiff University has played a major role in the development and validation of Quality of Life measures for use in dermatology, these measures are very practical and easy to use and can be viewed as follows:
