Cotswolds Surgical Partners

CSP (Cotswold Surgical Partners) is a partnership between a Consultant Dermatologist and 2 Consultant Plastic Surgeons providing NHS Dermatology and Plastic Surgery services as a small contractor to BSW CCG. These are provided in a community setting and hosted by a local Wiltshire practice who already have a GPwER Minor surgery service with long established links with the local MDT. The CSP services have also established connections with the local MDT from the beginning of the service, and quality is monitored regularly as part of the overall contract performance review.

Ably supported by the admin team headed by Mrs Helen Clarke and with support from Dr Fiona Armstrong, GP Partner at Spa Medical Centre and GPwER Minor Surgery

• Dermatology - assessment and management of all dermatology conditions apart from 2ww referrals

• Skin surgery - mostly for BCCs/other lesions on high risk areas, especially if requiring grafts; not accepting SCCs/MM (not included in 2ww referrals)

• Set up as Community service (GPs can refer directly from across Wiltshire), also some referrals from Dermatology Dept in RUH Bath to the Plastic Surgery service

• The in house GPwER Minor surgery service can also transfer some of the referrals they receive to either Dermatology or Plastic Surgery if deemed more suitable for those services, and viceversa

• We refer Dermatology patients to local Hospital based Dermatology if they need additional input such as biologics, phototherapy or allergy testing

• Very good feedback from patients

• Has the shortest waiting time locally (Dermatology 15 weeks, plastic surgery 4 weeks) amongst very long waiting times at RUH Bath (up to 50 weeks or more), SFT Salisbury (only accepting cancer work), GWH (20 weeks)

• Millard and Dr C Wright have given several educational talks to GPs at Spa and GPs across Wiltshire

• Dr Millard provides NHS Dermatology clinics in Gloucester Hospital and Dr B Wright provides NHS Dermatology clinics in Bristol

• Dr C Wright was also the Wiltshire CCG Dermatology Lead up to 31/3/20, and played a role in the set up of the teledermatology pilot at RUH, designed to reduce 2ww referrals from GPs (based on Leeds model, the pilot is ongoing). Additionally, Dr Wright provides GP GMS services in Trowbridge, Wiltshire
