Indications: useful in closing skin which is thin and fragile and has high skin tension, for example some lesions on the lower legs and larger lesions on the scalp.
Technique: insert sutures, one at either end of the wound, and then work the way to the middle, thus reducing tension in the centre. In most cases, surface interrupted sutures can be used at the ends of the wound, with the horizontal mattress sutures only being required as the operator moves towards the centre.
