This is the gold standard suture producing good cosmetic results and a strong wound. This suture can be used on most parts of the body (except on thin skin) and is essential when operating on the back, thigh and over strong joints when it must be used in combination with surface sutures. When used on the face, steri-strips or glue should replace surface sutures for most wounds, thereby giving the best cosmetic outcome.
Steristrips: should be used in addition to sutures where practical, being applied at 90 degrees to the direction of the wound.
For detailed information refer to the PCDS surgical guidelines.
