I trained as a doctor in Spain and came to work in the UK in 1993 where I initially trained and work as a GP and since 2008 solely in secondary care as an Associate Specialist on Dermatology. I was a PCDS committee member for several years and the BAD SAS subcommittee Chair for 4 years before becoming Clinical Lead of the Royal United Hospital Dermatology department where I still work.
I’ve got a special interest in skin cancer and skin surgery, dermatology education in Primary Care, Service delivery and redevelopment, Teledermatology and Aesthetic dermatology.
I have worked in dermatology nursing for over 35 years and half of these years as a specialist nurse in a liaison post which was pivotal in bridging the gap between secondary and primary care. I was awarded an MBE in New Years Honours list in recognition of my work in this field.

Michelle has worked as a GP partner for over 25 years and specialised in the field of dermatology for 20 years. She is an accredited GPwER in dermatology and for several years was a PCDS Executive Committee Member working in various roles.
Ivan Bristow has been a podiatrist for over 30 years and during that time has devoted much of his time to dermatology. As an academic, lecturer, clinician and researcher he has published widely on the subject and lectured globally. He is currently in private practice and an adjunct professor at two Australian Universities whilst continuing to publish on the subject.
I am now retired from paid employment, I worked the majority of my career for Stiefel Laboratories in the Pharmaceutical Industry from 1984 until I was made redundant in late 2015. I have also been engaged in various Dermatology voluntary roles as a founder member and then Chair of the Dermatology Industry Group (DIG). Chair of the Dermatology Council for England (DCE) and more latterly as the secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Party on Skin (APPGS). These roles have all come to an end allowing me to concentrate on the position as trustee for the PCDS.

Alan Borthwick is Emeritus Professor at the University of Southampton, as well as Adjunct Professor at both Southern Cross University and Queensland University of Technology in Australia. He was a former member of the Executive Council of The Royal College of Podiatry for 11 years, a Vice President for 4 years, and Chair of its Medicines Committee for over a decade. He also served a term as a Trustee of the Royal College of Podiatry, and has served on many of its committees. His academic research has focused on the sociology of the allied health professions. Alan represented the Allied Health Professions Federation on the Department of Health Allied Health Professions Medicines Project leading to independent prescribing by physiotherapists and podiatrists. He was awarded an OBE in the 2016 Queens Birthday Honours List.
I am a retired GP and Hospital Practitioner and in 1994 was one of the founding 6 GPs of the PCDS. I was elected chair in 2000 and continued to serve the Society in all its developing roles both educational and political and in particular assisted in the development of GPSIs and then GPwERs. My own GP practice allowed me to develop clinics for a specialist nurse providing direct referrals for all the practices in our town and I led a research team which specialised in diabetes and dermatology. In my later years I was able to develop a Laser service with Botox and facial fillers as well as some private skin surgery as increased restrictions in NHS funded procedures were enacted. Somewhere in my 40 years as a GP I developed an interest in Hypnotherapy and even that was put to use in relieving some of the stress, pain and itch suffered by our skin patients.
I am extremely proud of the Society’s achievements and its increasing influence, continued and extended by the excellent management committee and by my successors as chair since 2018. I am honoured to be asked to serve as a trustee of the Society.
