Where Women's Health Meets Dermatology

The Primary Care Dermatology Society (PCDS) and the Primary Care Women’s Health Forum (PCWHF) have joined forces to deliver an exclusive dual-specialty hybrid conference.

Recognising the important crossovers between women’s health and dermatology, the conference is the first of its kind, aimed at improving outcomes for your patients.

The PCDS is delighted to partner with PCWHF to bring all primary care practitioners the opportunity to gain perspectives in this innovative conference. The meeting will focus on common and important conditions where there are crossovers between the two specialties.

The hybrid event, for primary care clinicians, will be delivered at the Cavendish Conference Centre, London.

This unique conference offers keynote speakers, instructive presentations and invaluable learning.

Our speakers, including Dr Caroline Cooper, Dr Tim Cunliffe, Dr Anne Connolly MBE, Dr Angelika Razzaque, Dr Louise Price, Dr Lorna Patterson, Dr Elizabeth Ogden and Dr Julie Oliver, are renowned experts working at the forefront of dermatology and women’s health.

There will be an opportunity to network with colleagues and receive six hours of CPD.

This will give you time to watch at your leisure, revisit presentations and maximise your learning opportunities. All sessions will be available to watch during this period.

We, at the PCWHF, are excited to be working with the PCDS on this dual-specialty event. Working in primary care as generalists we often see the overlap between specialties, and this is a great opportunity for us to provide relevant quality education for our members.

	9.30am Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome – 90-minute session Women’s Health Speaker Dr Anne Connolly MBE - Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a long-term condition requiring personalised care. The opportunities for managing the short, medium and long-term aspects of PCOS will be discussed, using cases typically seen in primary care. Dermatology Speaker Dr Angelika Razzaque - Acne is a very common disease encountered in primary care. If managed effectively at the onset, many long-term effects can be avoided. The focus of the presentation is on the PCDS and new NICE guidance and looking at acne’s connection to PCOS.

	11.30am Vulvas and Vaginas – 90-minute session Women’s Health Speaker Dr Louise Price - Genitourinary syndrome of the menopause is common with up to 80% of women being affected. It remains under diagnosed and under treated resulting in many women suffering unnecessarily.Let's be the clinicians that get the conversation started about sex and intimacy, lets allow women to talk openly about vulvovaginal symptoms. If we do, women will access the right treatment at the right time which will in turn positively impact their quality of life and sexuality. Dermatology Speaker Dr Lorna Patterson - Taking the sting out of vulval skin problems. Vulval skin problems can cause distressing symptoms which can have a major impact on physical, psycho-social and sexual wellbeing. This session will include how to take a focussed history and outline a systematic approach to vulval examination including recognition of normal anatomy, which will be illustrated with clinical cases of common conditions relevant to primary care.

	1.45pm Skin Conditions in Pregnancy Dermatology Speaker Dr Elizabeth Ogden - Pregnancy produces changes in both the skin and hair. Due to changes in immunity, some diseases improve while others worsen. There are four specific diseases which occur in pregnancy: Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy; Gestational Pemphigoid; Atopic Eruption of Pregnancy, and Polymorphic Eruption of Pregnancy. This talk will cover all of these aspects of pregnancy skin problems.
	2.30pm What’s New in Contraception? Women’s Health Speaker Dr Caroline Cooper - This interactive session will be based on recent guidance from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health (FSRH). Scenarios seen in primary care and changes to practice post-COVID will be discussed, and there will be an opportunity to ask questions about your own cases.

	3.30pm HRT Update Women’s Health Speaker Dr Julia Oliver - The ideology of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has gone from toxic to tonic - which camp do you sit in? Here we take an up-to-date evidence-based approach to managing women with menopause symptoms.
	4.00pm Spot Diagnosis Dermatology Speaker Dr Timothy Cunliffe – With 3000 different skin conditions; one of the most difficult aspects of dermatology is diagnostics. ‘Spot diagnosis’ is a varied and informative quiz on common and important skin conditions with diagnostic and management tips, as well signposts to useful resources.
